Michael G. McManus of Chicago, Illinois passed away peacefully March 5th, 2024 at the age of 72 surrounded by his loving Son & Family. Son of Josephine and Duncan McManus. Dear brother of Rose, Dennis, Eileen, John, Patrick, Mary, Joseph, and Katherine. Loving father to Michael (Nicolette) McManus, and the late Megan E. McManus. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Michael spent 34 years working for the Illinois Department of corrections, retiring at the rank of parole commander. Dedicating his time and service to his love for his career. Michael enjoyed his annual trips to Mexico and soaking up the sun. He had a deep love for nature, flowers, animals, planting trees, and enjoying a nice meal with friends and family. Most importantly Michael had a deep connection and love for Jesus Christ and his faith in God as well as being a father to both of his loving children. He will be truly missed by his many family and friends. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Michael was preceded in death by his loving daughter Megan E. McManus, Parents Josephine & Duncan McManus, Brother Dennis McManus and Sisters Rose & Eileen McManus. Visitation Monday, March 11, 2024 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL. Lying in state Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 9 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Edna Church 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine, IL. For funeral info call 847-359-8020.

Jan Scruggs is going to be the Grand Marshall for the Northwest Side St. Pat's parade on 17 Mar 24. There is also going to be a Meet and Greet and Interview w/ Bill Kurtis at the Niles Senior Center, 999 Civic Center Dr., Niles, Il. on Friday evening, 15 Mar 24 at 6 PM. Jan is the Founder of the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington DC. If you are available, come and meet the GI who thought up, pushed through, got funding for and eventually got erected the Vietnam Veterans Wall in DC.
