John "Hans" H. Koenig, 89, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away April 2, 2024 at his home. He was born July 16, 1934 in Chicago, IL to Michael and Anna Koenig. John was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the US Marines. He retired from the Chicago Police Department after serving for over 30 years, having reached the rank of Detective. He was an avid golfer and bowler. John is survived by his children Kim Koenig and Mark Koenig, his loving companion Marie Hall and her wonderful family, his niece and nephews Terri Lamberti, Mike Koenig, and Paul Koenig, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandra, his brother Michael, and his niece Annie Koenig. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11:00am at the funeral chapel. Interment will be held at Willow Lawn Cemetery in Vernon Hills, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Lake County Honor Flight https://www.lakecountyhonorflight.org/ or P.O. Box 1187 North Chicago, IL 60064.

On a sad note, the Church is asking for your thoughts and prayers for Pastor Tim Johonson's wife, Kari. She has been ill and has just entered Hospice care.
