George J. Hendry of Chicago passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the age of 78. Beloved son of the late George and Nell Hendry. He was the loving husband of Mary (nee Cartan) for 55 years. Amazing father of John (Maria) Hendry, Elizabeth (David) Oufnac and the late George Hendry. Treasured grandfather of Ross and Sadie Hendry and George and Mary Oufnac. Dear brother of Robert Hendry and the late Mary Catherine Paci (Robert) and James Hendry (Earline) and fond brother in-law of Thomas Cartan (Lorrie). Admired uncle of many nieces and nephews. George Hendry and his best friend the late Patrick Coakley were the founders of the South Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade (1979). Visitation Monday, July 22 at St. Cajetan Church, 2445 W. 112th Street, Chicago, 60655 from 10:00 am until time of Mass 12:00 pm. Richard J. Jablonski, 87, of Pingree Grove, IL passed away on July 17, 2024, surrounded by his family. Rich was born on October 16, 1936, in Chicago, IL to his parents Bruno and Eleanore Jablonski. He was a US Army Veteran, retired Chicago Police Sergeant, retired Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice, and an avid fisherman. He lived a very happy and fulfilling life. Rich is the beloved father of Michael Jablonski and Susan (Jeff) Payton; amazing papa of Adam, Tyler, Emma and Ava; dear brother of James (Carol) Jablonski and brother-in-law of Mike (Nancy) Matlosz, and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years Colette; parents Bruno and Eleanore and his sister Barbara (John) Bogovich. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 95 S. Gilbert St. South Elgin, IL. Prayers will be held at 10:15 am on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the Funeral Home, then we will process for Rich’s Funeral Mass at St. Thomas More Parish, 215 Thomas More Dr. Elgin, IL 60123. Beloved Husband of the late Sandra “Sandy”, nee Olsen, for a loving 40 years. Devoted Father of Adina, Nicole, Frankie (Lizet), and Elaina (Jim). John E. Zart, age 81, lifelong resident and dedicated community member of the East Side, passed away on July 12, 2024. Loving father of Christine (Geoffrey) Cacich. Proud grandpa to Hunter, Kendall and Nolan. Dearest brother of Bob (Madeline) Zart, Joan (Ken, Ret. CPD) Johnson and late Shirley (late Don) Kiel. Also survived by a niece, nephews and many friends. Former husband of Linda Gallo. John spent many years as a loan officer for East Side Bank and was previous owner of Now On Video. He was a dedicated supporter of many community organizations and activities serving as Past President of East Side Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of East Side Lions Club. In his spare time, John enjoyed the simple pleasure of gardening and caring for his many flowers. His friends and neighbors knew they could always count on John for friendly conversations, a good story and some laughs.
