Michael A. Koster, 78, of Somonauk, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Rush Copley Medical Center. He was born March 29, 1946, in Aurora, IL. Michael spent his younger years as a talented rock and roll musician; he loved driving and working on motorcycles and cars. Feeling the urge to be the protector not only of his family but his community Michael entered law enforcement. He began his career as a Kane County Sheriff’s Deputy for two years until he joined the Aurora Police Department where he devoted twenty five years of service until his retirement, He is survived by his loving wife of fifty two years, Linda (Daraban) Koster; three children, Scott (Krista) Koster, Kelley (Phil) Gruca, Jennifer (William) Banse; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Lewinski, Phillip (Stacy) Gruca, Robert (Denise) Gruca, Kyle (Carrie) Gruca, Jeremy (Nicole) Gruca, Hope Banse, Ally Banse; fourteen great grandchildren; his brother, Gerald (Jane) Koster; a sister-in-law, LouAnn Daraban; a brother-in-law, Gerald McCabe; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Dorothy (Buckley) Koster; two sisters, Patricia Hawkins, Bonnie McCabe; a brother-in-law, Louis Daraban. Visitation will be held Monday, October 7, 2024 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street Aurora, IL 60506, 630-631-5500. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:15 AM at St. Joseph Cemetery in Aurora; Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate. Judith Sallmen is the mother of Detective Daniel M. Houlihan assigned to Area One.

Judith Ann Sallmen, age 83, of Burbank, IL, passed from our hands into God’s loving arms on October 3, 2024. Judith was the beloved mother of seven, having shared a wonderful life with her first husband, the late James Houlihan, with whom she raised their children. She later enjoyed a deep and loving relationship with her second husband, the late Donald Sallmen, who was a cherished stepdad to her kids. Judith also found joy in her later years with her life partner, the late Lloyd Klump, with whom she shared countless memorable moments. Judith was a proud mother to her children: the late James (Sandra) Houlihan Jr., Marie (Kevin) Wyman, Casey Kesek, Judy (Thomas) Totosz, Pamela Walsh, the late Kevin Houlihan, and Daniel (CPD) (Michaelene) Houlihan. She delighted in being a grandmother to her grandkids: Jennifer, Sandra, Samantha, Kevin (Kailee), David (Jackie), Thomas (Nicole), Christopher, Megan, Brandon, Michael, Matthew, and Mia, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Judith is survived by her siblings, Richard, William, Dorothy, and the late Karen, and she shared a very close-knit relationship with her extended family, particularly Kurt (Carmen) Klump. She was a wonderful sister-in-law and a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Judith was preceded in death by her loving parents, Richard and Jessie Zirngibl. Judith loved Bingo and going to the casino. She brought laughter and joy to everyone around her. She had a remarkable gift for touching the lives of all who met her. Judith was a beloved grandmother to all of Lloyds grandchildren and she was a strong woman who loved her children. A fantastic cook and a true spitfire, she filled her family’s lives with joy and her unmistakable spirit. Memories will be shared at a memorial visitation on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 3-9 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Hann Funeral Home, 8230 S. Harlem Avenue, Bridgeview, IL, 60455. She will be dearly missed.

October 12/13th Tactical Shoot at the Site in Mt Carroll, IL. This is a two-day class. Pistol will be taught by Robert Vogel and rifle will be taught by Pet Milionis.
