Gary Roy, age 70, passed away on March 22nd, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband to Susan (nee Petrick) for 35 years. Proud father of Stacey (Rick) Ivnik, Lauren (Ryan) Meder and Gary (Kristen) Roy. Loving Papa to Sophia, Sabrina, Logan, Jax, Frank, Gunner and Olivia. Dear brother of George (late Carolyn) Roy. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents George and Clara Roy. Gary was a retired state trooper and until his passing worked security at Citgo Refinery. He was the owner of Smokey Row Antiques and The Inn at Smokey Row. Visitation Friday, March 28th from 2 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 29th, 9 to 10 a.m. at Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C., 108 Illinois St., Lemont, IL. Funeral Mass Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. James at Sag Bridge Catholic Church, 10600 S. Archer Ave., Lemont, IL. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org.

The Wills for Heroes Foundation provides essential estate planning documents free of charge to our nation’s veterans and first responders. The Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section (YLS) and Exelon have partnered with the national Wills for Heroes Foundation to offer this service in Chicago. The Chicago Bar Association is currently scheduling appointments for in-person clinics to be held at Chicago Public Safety Headquarters, 3510 South Michigan Avenue. All clinics are held on Saturday mornings and the appointment takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Appointments will be scheduled at 0900, 1000 and 1100 hours.
