Richard “Rick” Husarik, age 77, of Frisco, TX, formerly of Lyons, IL. Beloved husband and best friend of Kathryn “Katie” (nee Kelly) Husarik. Devoted son of the late John and Olga (nee Stasaitis) Husarik. Fond brother-in-law of the late John (the late Meredith) Kelly, Robert (Dale) Kelly, Patrick “PK” (the late Debra) Kelly, Susan (the late James) Wiedemann and Marian (the late Andrew) Sabol. Uncle of several nieces and nephews. Rick was the retired Chief of Police for the Lyons IL Police Department, a former Hostage Negotiator (nickname of “Preacher”) for NIPAS (Northern Illinois Police Alarm System), a member of the Lyons FOP Lodge #44, the Illinois Police Association, a member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and a member of The ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Club. Rick was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed many games at Lambeau Field. Rick enjoyed motorcycling, camping, scuba diving, traveling and spending time with friends and living life to the fullest! Services and interment will be private. Theresa “Tess” Rejzer, 75, passed away in her home on Monday, August 25, 2025. Proud mother of Chicago Police Officer Brianna “BeBe” Rejzer and beloved sister to her remaining siblings, Barbara (late Thomas) Vargas, Michael (Josephine) Rejzer and sister-in-law Barbara Rejzer. Loving aunt to Elissa (Ed) Bafia, Christina (Richard) Ciurej, Thomas (Valerie) Vargas, Stephanie (Art) Hughes, and Eric Rejzer. Adored great aunt to Nicholas Ciurej, Samantha Vargas, Sarah Hughes, and Carter Hughes. Growing up in Wicker Park, Tess treasured her Szalaj cousins more like siblings. Preceded in death by both her parents, John and Virginia (nee Szalaj) Rejzer and her brothers, Richard Rejzer and Dennis Rejzer and sister Karen Emanuel. Since retiring from the City of Chicago, Tess enjoyed her backyard planting sunflowers and pansies and watching the squirrels and birds fight over the food in the feeder—always rooting for her favorite Cardinal—or her cherished (late) dog Rowand chasing all of them. Tess would enjoy late night snuggles with her most recent four-legged friend, Zeke, while watching Wheel of Fortune.Her memory will be held dear by her family, friends and to all who sought her guidance and advice. ...And she will never be forgotten. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home,4727 W 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 9310 S 55th Ct, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. SPECIAL EVENT!

The Special Events Section is seeking Department Members to volunteer to read names at the 2025 Candlelight Vigil in remembrance of the Chicago Police Department’s Fallen Officers. Volunteers should email their name, star number, unit of assignment and phone number to the Special Events Section at Special. Events@ chicagopolice.org by 1400 hours on Tuesday, 03 September 2025, with the email subject line “2025 Candlelight Vigil Volunteer.” The 2025 Candlelight Vigil will be held on Wednesday, 10 September 2025 at 1930 hours at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park, 1410 Special Olympics Drive.
