William “Bill” Ruck of Chicago, Illinois born July 10, 1964 passed away in Buckeye, Arizona on May 13, 2022. He was an amazing and caring husband to Sue, doting dog dad to Gretchen, Daisy, Foxy, and Ruger, loving son of Ken and Donna, and loyal and dependable friend to many. Bill was a lifelong Cubs fan and finally saw them win the World Series. Not only was Bill considered a beer connoisseur, he was a master on the grill. Bill grew up on the northside of Chicago, attended Lane Technical High School, and worked at Walgreens as an assistant manager before becoming a Chicago Police Officer. Bill began his law enforcement career in 1986. He received the Superintendent’s Award of Valor and numerous police awards for his service. After 29 years of service to CPD, he retired as a detective in gang investigations. Bill and Sue built their new home in Buckeye Verrado in 2017, where he enjoyed golfing, walking to the recreation center to work out, hiking on the many trails near his home by the White Tank Mountains, and traveling to the many beautiful cities throughout Arizona. Bill and Sue traveled to many different countries and he was a proud member of the German American Police Association (GAPA) from the beginning of his law enforcement career until his passing. Bill recently started a new hobby: biking on his electric bike. He also volunteered for the Buckeye Police Department as a Lieutenant. Bill will be missed tremendously by Sue, Ruger, his family, and his many friends made throughout his career, youth, and in Arizona. Bill is survived by his wife, Susan “Sue” Ruck; and his parents, Kenneth and Donna Ruck. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Holy Family St. Michael’s House.
