AND...

Most of you know that in my 32 years in the Chicago Police Department, I spent almost half of my years in the Bureau of Detectives. I have also helped with many promotional exams, and most recently taught a group of sergeants who did extremely well on their Lieutenants Exam. Because of this, I have decided to come out of retirement to teach a Detectives Preparation class for officers who will be taking the Detectives exam.

My class for the upcoming detective exam will be an interactive zoom class where students will:

Learn by viewing power points and videos (Visual Learning).Dissect Orders by Reading the Order out loud and discussing key points. (Audio Learning)Create multiple-choice questions and best answer questions that will be used in class. (Actual learning by reading and writing)Participate in and Critique Investigative Scenarios. (Actual Learning by playing the role of a detective).Listen to real Chicago Detectives speak about best practices in actual investigations.

In addition, the student will build confidence, and learn test-taking skills that I myself have used in the past.

For the Detectives Preparation class, there will be two classes with a maximum of 35 officers in each class, so that each officer has the opportunity to participate in class. Officers for the class will be selected on a first-come basis). One class will take place during the day and the other class will take place in the evening. In order to maintain consistency in class, the officer must choose either the day or night class.
The class dates will be as follows:

Day Class Part 1July 12-0900-1200July 19-0900-1200July 26-0900-1200August 2-0900-1200August 9-0900-1200

Evening Class Part 1July 11- 1800-2100July 18- 1800-2100July 25-1800-2100August 1-1800-2100August 8-1800-2100
