On 02 JUL 23, officers in the 011th district felt the vehicle they were driving was swaying slightly. Upon inspecting the vehicle's tires, they discovered one lug nut missing and the others to be very loose. It is suspected that an unknown individual sabotaged the lug nuts on the squad car in an attempt to induce a traffic crash. All officers should be advised to thoroughly inspect their vehicles for both damage and safety prior to the start of their tours.

The city of Chicago is currently experiencing very unhealthy air quality conditions per monitoring conducted by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) generally due to Canadian wildfire smoke. Wildfire smoke can irritate the eyes, nose, throat, and lungs. Department members should follow their doctor’s advice if they have asthma, lung, or cardiovascular disease. Department members are recommended to use masks while outside. Department members in need of additional PPE shall contact their immediate supervisor who shall arrange for procurement.
