Hope you are well. I'm Pascal Sabino, and I'm a journalist for Block Club Chicago. I'm reaching out because I'm doing a reporting project that is focused on the Rapid Response teams that were created in the 90s as part of CAPS to focus on responding to 911 calls. I'm hoping to talk to some retired police officers about how the rapid response teams work, and how they've changed over the years. For context, I'm doing a data analysis of the activities logged by Rapid Response officers in recent years, and I was somewhat surprised to find that these teams seem to be spending less and less time responding to 911 calls, and focusing more on routine patrol activity and traffic stops. I'm just hoping to talk to some officers who can give me some perspective on the type of work that these teams do.
Please let me know if you or any other members of your association might be open to a short conversation.
Best,
Pascal Sabino
