Joy Elaine Metcalf (Chalfant) passed away peacefully April 1, 2024. Joy was born September 23, 1935, and lived most of her life in Waukegan, Il. She graduated from Waukegan H.S. in 1952. Joy married the love of her life, Robert Metcalf in 1953. She was a wonderful mother to her 4 children. Her career took many paths from being a mother, to waitress at the Parkway, to retiring from the Lake County Sheriff's office as Outstanding Deputy in 1997. Retirement took them to Tavares, Fl where they enjoyed many years of golfing, boating and traveling. Joy is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Bob, 4 children Jack (Bonnie), Jill Halweg, Ronald (Karen) and Rob (Anna), 5 grandchildren Carly (Andrea), Michelle, Robyn (Joe), Alison (Geoff) and Daniel. 5 great grandchildren, and beloved niece Roberta Riley. Joy was preceded in death by her parents Gail and Leora Chalfant, brother Robert Chalfant, and son in law Glenn Halweg. All arrangements are private.

Sara “Chay” Rosado, age 78, of Chicago, passed away on April 1, 2024. Beloved wife of William Rosado for a wonderful 53 years. Loving mother of Mayda (Roy) Corral and Diana Rosado. Cherished stepmother of the late Donald Rosado and Dolly (Fred) Pino. Devoted grandmother of Kylie and Andrew Corral. Fond step-grandmother. Dear sister of Jose Antonio, Sonia Baez, Carmen Vallejo, Iris Chacon, Teresa Vallejo Colon, Gladys Irizarry, Edith Vallejo, Margarita Vallejo, Evelyn Martinez, Anselmo Vallejo Jr., Sandra Vallejo-Rivera, Bethsaida Gomez, Maritza McMillan, Adair Armband, and Albert Vallejo. Fond aunt and friend of many. Preceded in death by her parents, Anselmo and Esmeralda Vallejo. Sara will be remembered for loving her family, her wonderful backyard garden, amazing cooking, and her sense of humor. Sara deeply influenced many with the best stories of wisdom that she shared with her loved ones. Sara proudly served the Chicago Police Department as a civilian clerk for 20+ years. Above all, Sara will be remembered for her love of faith. She was a longtime member at Ashburn Baptist Church, Standing Stones Church, and the Garfield Ridge Baptist Church.
