Timothy J. Finnegan, age 73, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025. He was born to Mary and Jim Finnegan on February 17, 1952. Raised in a tight knit family on the west side of Chicago, he developed a lifelong love for his faith and his city, which was reflected in his big life decisions. He graduated from St. Vincent De Paul Seminary in 1970 and Lewis University in 1974. In 1983 he married the love of his life, Christine (Finn) and together they raised their children, sons Lieutenant Timothy, C.F.D.(Colleen) and Nolan (Buse), and daughter Marikate (Cullen) Cassidy. Tim served his city proudly as a paramedic and firefighter for 32 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2007. He then served as the Life Safety Director at Soldier Field for the next twenty years. Tim was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, John and Michael. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Cris, his devoted children, his cherished grandchildren Nellie and Eamonn, his siblings Roseann (Terry) LeFevour, Robert (Laura), Tom (Dorie) and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Tim was bigger than life and his interests were many. Tim truly loved music and had a beautiful tenor voice and on occasion he could be persuaded to share it with a glass of red or pint in hand. If he didn't bring the fun, he always added to it. Additionally, Tim was a devoted member of the Shannon Rovers Pipe Band for many years. Tim truly loved life, and those who shared life with him had their lives made better for having known this wonderful, charming and charismatic man. Somewhere in San Francisco today there is a mule on a hill with a tear in his eyes.
