James “Jim” Moran, age 92, of Chicago, IL; beloved husband of the late Micalyn “Mickey” (née McCullough) Moran; loving father of Katherine (Tim) Bogue, Robert (Julie) Moran, Mary Moran, James (Bridgette) Moran, & the late Margaret “Meg” Moran; proud grandfather of Ryan Bogue, Brittany Bogue, Conor (Heather) Moran, Audrey Moran, Tyler (Megan) Moran, Colin Moran, & Kyra Moran; great-grandfather of 6; dear brother of Joan Clark, the late Robert Moran, the late Gerald (Bette) Moran, Joseph (Betty) Moran, Donald (Noreen) Moran, Maryellen (Pat) O’Shea, John (Patricia) Moran, & Colleen (Larry) McPolin; fond brother-in-law; Uncle Jimmy to dozens of nieces and nephews; an excellent step-GPa to Aidan, Liam, Fiona and Brenna Mulhern; and a loyal friend of many. Jim served in the United States Air Force. He went on to become a Chicago Police Officer, serving for more than for 30 years, working many different positions while a patrolman. He was proudest of his time as “Officer Friendly” where he was a spokesman and advocate for the police department in Chicago’s public schools. Jim loved his family and friends. He was always a helpful neighbor. He enjoyed camping and fishing and any time he could spend with his family at their cottages in Saugany Lake Indiana. 1 June 25 Area 4 Ride to Remember!

The Annual Area 4 Ride to Remember is Sunday 01 June 2025. This annual event is always a great display of support for Chicago’s Gold Star Families. Motorcyclists will gather at Lot C of the United Center at 0730 hours for breakfast, then travel to Gold Star Memorial and Park at 0900 for a brief ceremony in honor of those whose lives were taken in service to our city. All Proceeds are donated to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. The event is open to the public and all makes and models are welcome. Hello everyone,

May is almost over and that means that the first Tuesday of the month is upon us. This coming Tuesday, the 3rd of June is the Northside Retiree Breakfast. We are at D'Agostino’s 7530 W Oakton in Niles. The doors open at around 0830 and breakfast around 0900. We end around 1030. Stay later if you like. So come on down and meet up with friends old and new. Breakfast is still $15/person including coffee. The price includes tax and tip. Tip more if you wish. a small charge is added for credit cards.

We have door prizes and a split the pot. Bank the Blue has a raffle to raise funds for their effort to help those officers, retired and active who are struggling emotionally!

The Recruitment and Retention Unit, in partnership with the City of Chicago, is proud to announce the in-person, written, Entry-Level Police Officer Exam, taking place on 30 May and 31 May. Testing sessions will be held at 0800 and 1330 hours on both days at participating City Colleges of Chicago. The testing locations include Daley College (7500 S Pulaski Rd), Malcolm X College (1900 W Jackson Blvd), Olive-Harvey College (10001 S Woodlawn Ave), Wilbur Wright College (4300 N Narragansett Ave), and Kennedy-King College (6343 S Halsted St). Walk-ins are welcome on the day of the exam.
