Janice A. Kasper (nee Szczesny), a devoted public servant who dedicated 27 years to the Chicago Police Department and a cherished mother, passed away at the age of 71. A proud resident of the Westlawn neighborhood in Chicago, and formerly of the "Back of the Yards" neighborhood, she was a respected figure in her community and within the law enforcement family. Longtime member of Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago John Dineen Lodge #7. Born to the late Marian Szczesny and the late Vivian Szczesny (nee Jasinska), Janice's commitment to her city was evident in her long and commendable career with the CPD. She served with integrity and dedication, earning the respect of her colleagues and the gratitude of the citizens she protected. Even after her retirement, she remained an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a testament to her enduring camaraderie and support for her fellow officers. Janice was the loving mother of Brandon V. Kasper. Beyond her professional life, she found great joy in cooking, tending to her garden, and exploring the world through travel. Her beloved Shitzhu, "Gizmo," was a constant and cherished companion. Those who knew Janice remember her as a strong, principled individual with a warm heart. Her life, rooted in the vibrant communities of Chicago, from "Back of the Yards" to Westlawn, was a reflection of her own values of loyalty, service, and family. Her legacy as a Chicago Police Officer, a devoted mother, and a woman of many passions will be long remembered.
