Mary E. Ahern (née Henry) passed away peacefully on July26th at the age of 89. She was the beloved wife of the late Christopher M. Ahern, retired from the Chicago Police Department, and the loving mother of Michael (Therese), the late Mark, Daniel (Jill), Maggie (Daniel) Gaffney, and Mary (Michael) Colaizzi. Proud grandmother of Katie, Jenny, Kevin, Ryan, Adam, Lauren, Genevieve, Meghan, Moira, Sean, Colleen, Joseph, Brian & Timothy. Cherished great grandmother (Tammy) of Anna, Billy, Olivia, Emma, Charlie, Jack, Declan, Liam, Nora, Henry, Alina, Sofija, Patrick, Erin, Madeline, Shane, Maeve, Lucy, Henry, Logan, Calvin, Jordan & Riley. Mary remained actively engaged in family life well into her late eighties. She worked alongside her son Michael for many years and supported her son Mark in his dental practice prior to his passing, roles that exemplified her devotion to her family. Mary’s life was defined by her unwavering faith, quiet strength, and the love she had for her family. Her spirit lives on in the laughter, traditions, memories she inspired and of course her favorite caramel macchiatos. This is in honor of Police Officer Elijah Harris Jr., #15208, assigned to the 006 District, who was shot in the line-of-duty at 2302 hours on 31 July 1989 in the 006 District, ultimately succumbing to his injuries on 16 November 1989.
