Steve Barrientos, age 77. US Army, Vietnam War Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, Retired Chicago Police Officer, passed away peacefully at home, November 28, 2025. Born March 21, 1948 in Chicago, IL. He was the beloved husband of Maria; loving father of Steve (Jennifer) Barrientos Jr., former CPD, Saul (Dawn) Barrientos, ret. CPD, Starr Barrientos, and Maria (Anthony) Heleine; cherished grandfather of Laila Coplin, Luke Barrientos, Olivia Barrientos, Linda (Jonathan) Lucento; Alicia (Jaime) Lugo, Adriana (Aaron Rodriguez) Barrientos, Saul Michael (Morgan) Barrientos, David (Viri) Settles, Kylie Robbins, Thomas Heleine, and Evelyn Heleine; cherished great-grandfather of 10; dear grandson of the late Porfiria Portillo, son of the late Juanita Barrientos, and brother of the late Frank Barrientos; friend to many. Steve served in the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne Division, the "Screaming Eagles", an elite air assault division of the United States Army. Steve was also a member of the American Legion Tattler Post 973. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Visitation Thursday, December 4, 2025 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Muzyka & Son Funeral Home, 5776 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago. Funeral Friday 10 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Pascal Church, 3935 N. Claudia Munyon, 80, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Calumet, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 26th 2025. Loving wife to the late Thomas Munyon (1995), with 25 blessed years of marriage. Beloved mother to Michael Munyon and Patrick Munyon, and step-mother to Thomas Munyon Jr and Pamela (Mylin) Munyon. Dear grandmother to Ivy Munyon, Jacob Munyon-Rocuant, Everett Munyon, and Grayson Munyon. Cherished sister to Laurel (Labelle)Gasperich, Gerald Gasperich, Alan Gasperich, Rodney Gasperich, Leland Gasperich, Michael Gasperich, and Dorothy (Andler) Gasperich. On Friday, 05 December 2025, Gold Star Family Members will be participating in the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and they will be wrapping all the donated gifts. We thank you in advance for helping to create holiday magic for children in domestic violence shelters. We are hoping to surpass the generosity expressed last year when we delivered over 1,000 gifts to shelters. The Superintendent will light the tree at noon in the multi-Purpose room of the Public Safety Headquarters along the Gold Badge Families.
