Ronald Anthony Hage, 75, retired Chicago Police Detective; lifelong Chicago resident; passed away March 8, 2023, at his home in Chicago. Ron was born and raised in Chicago’s Humbolt Park and Lincoln Square neighborhoods. He graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge, and immediately entered the workforce as a Chicago Police Officer in January, 1968. He became a Detective in February 1983 and for the remainder of his career with the Chicago Police Department. Proud CPD badge number #12030 & Detective badge #20741. Member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a proud parishioner of St. Matthias Catholic Church, now St. Matthias Church at Queen of Apostles Parish Chicago. Above all things Ron loved being a grandfather and great-grandfather! Serving and protecting his beloved city of Chicago for 37 years was his honor, he loved to help anyone in need. He had the most dynamic personality, and he could charm the skin off a snake. Former husband of 30 years to the late Ada Hage (nee Diaz). Loving father of Ronald “Ronnie” (Deborah) Hage. Casimir “Cas” Joseph Kotowski, loving husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong educator, passed away peacefully at 91 years of age surrounded by his devoted and beloved family on March 9, 2023. Cas was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 8, 1931, to Martha and Casimir Kotowski. He was raised along with his brother Eugene and his sister Irene, mostly by his mother and her large polish family in the Garfield Heights neighborhood where he attended Holy Name grammar and high school, and John Carroll University. At the age of 20, he joined the Society of Jesus where he received a B.A. from Xavier University in 1955, and eventually made his way to the Chicago where he began his teaching career at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois. Cas would leave the Jesuits in 1961, yet the Jesuit motto “men and women for others” would remain a constant thread throughout his life. Cas continued his teaching career at Fenwick High School for three years, followed by three years at St. Ignatius High School. He would also at this time meet his only love and best friend Mary “Jinx” Kotowski, to whom he was married for more than 60 years, which he would often say was the “best decision of his life.” Upon receiving his Master of Arts degree from Loyola University in 1968, Cas joined the City Colleges of Chicago, and first taught at Loop College (now Harold Washington) for ten years and later at Harry S. Truman College where he led courses in sociology, psychology, and criminal justice, among others, and served as Chairman of the Social Science department for several years. Cas received a doctoral degree in education in 1980 and was known to his students and colleagues as “Dr. Cas.” He was a revered teacher, devoted to his students and fellow faculty, and was recognized with a “Distinguished Professor” award in 1991, and in 2008 was acknowledged as one of the founders of the Bridge Program in conjunction with DePaul University. Over the years, Cas also taught at the Chicago Police Academy and was an integral member of the CAPS community policing program in Rogers Park. Though he retired in 2000, he continued teaching courses part-time at Truman, DePaul and Oakton Community College until the age of 81. Cas and Jinx raised a family of five children, Joseph (Rita), Marie “Mimi” (Mike) Simon, James (Katrina), Daniel (Anne Dempsey), and Michael (Margaret). He was a loving father who stressed the importance of education above all, and the equity and inclusion of all humans, even when, or especially when, it was unpopular. He was unafraid to fight for what he believed in, and he taught his children to do the same. In later years, he was an adored grandfather, lovingly known as “Dapa” to thirteen grandchildren, Catherine “Katie” (Brandon), Lucas, Genevieve “Genna”, John “Jack”, Alice, Thomas “Tommy”, Padraig “Paddy”, Grace “Gracie”, Nathan “Nate”, Anna “Annie”, Margaret “Maggie”, Cooper, and Asher. Dapa had a special relationship with every grandchild, and was always on hand to babysit, pick up the kids from school, and was always thrilled and proud to attend various sporting events, plays and musical performances. You could find him at family parties holding a baby, which made him so happy. Cas was the beloved in-law of the late Genevieve “Bunny” (Jack) Christian, John “Jack” (Loretta) Connelly, Catherine “Jill” Connelly, Alice (Dr. Richard) Nagle, Maureen “Moe” (Ray) Taylor, Carol “Bitsy” (Tim) Downs, John (Linda) Connelly and the late Karen Connelly. He was a loving uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Friends and family will gather for visitation on Sunday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Smith Corcoran, 6150 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago, IL 60646. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Holy Child Jesus Church, 2324 W. Chase Ave., Chicago IL 60645. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Kids Above All, Misericordia or Danny Did Foundation.

Update on Al Jaglowski!

Surgery is done. He is off the ECHMO (heart lung bypass machine.). They put in the LVad and did not have to do the aortic valve replacement. They were able to do a side incision and not crack his sternum. Yeah! What a relief! All the prayers worked. Thank you all!
