John Allanson.jpg

John R. Allanson, a loving father, brother, husband, and friend, passed away on May 23, 2023, in his hometown of Chicago, IL, just days before his 79th birthday. John is survived by his daughter Brenda and son-in-law Ray and his sisters Pat and Janet. He is mourned by his stepdaughters Karla, Kelly (husband: Michael, kids: Frankie and Michael), and Kimberly (husband: Eddie, kids: Abigail and Amelia). He was preceded in death by his second wife Rhoda, sister Celeste, and parents John and Ellen. John devoted 37 years to serving the Chicago Police Department. He loved his job and forged friendships within the force, most notably with his partner Mike. Throughout his life, John was an avid sports fan, cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears every chance he got. His love for trivia led to countless days spent at the neighborhood bar watching Jeopardy, where he earned the affectionate nickname "Jeopardy John." His sense of humor was infectious, and he delighted in claiming that every day was his birthday, earning him yet another nickname: "Birthday John." He enjoyed traveling, with Las Vegas being his favorite destination. John loved sharing a meal with others and spoiling his loved ones, as gifting was his way of showing affection. A memorial service to celebrate John Allanson's life is forthcoming in the Chicago area, and details will be shared here once available. In lieu of gifts, the family asks for donations to the American Heart Association at: https://bit.ly/AmerHeartDonationforJohn. (If you prefer to send a gift, please avoid lilies in any form due to allergies.) After his passing, John was eligible to donate tissue through the Gift of Hope organization. His daughter authorized this gift which will help 20 to 25 people with severe burns or those suffering with bone cancer. He will also be able to help two people to see. The family encourages you to register to be an organ, eye and tissue donor at: https://www.giftofhope.org/join-the-registry/.

William Hogueisson, III.png

William R. Hogueisson, III – “Billy” to those who knew and loved him, and Hogie to everyone around, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 27, 2023. He was 50 years old. Billy was a loving member of our family and will be sorely missed by everyone. Best ever husband, friend, and partner of 17 years to Karolina (nee Popowicz) and the best cat dad to Vader, Elsa and Zelda (and David, Key-Key and Gordon too). Cherished son of William R. Hogueisson, Jr and Maureen (nee Mooney). Beloved brother to his little sister Nora (Edward) Fink, Jr. and the best ever uncle to Eileen “Ellie” and Edward “E3” Fink. Dear grandson of the late Barbara and William R. Hogueisson Sr. and the late Eileen and John Mooney. Beloved son-in-law to Henryk (the late Krystyna) Popowicz, a wonderful brother-in-law and a fun-loving uncle to Patrick and Olivia, Zoey and Ryan, Anna and Lucas, Gabriela and Vivien, Wojtek and Rysiu. A wonderful nephew to his aunts and uncles and a wonderful cousin. Billy was a retired Cook County Sheriff Deputy and a retired Union Steward with Teamsters Local 700. He retired last year and truly looked forward to all the things he’d be able to do. He was a very hard working person, always made sure to provide for his family and quickly found a position as a substitute teacher at Palos Community Consolidated School District 118 and Mokena School District. He truly enjoyed his retirement job. Billy was a Friend of Bill W for 30 years and was very actively engaged in the program. Billy was a great friend to many. To know him was to love him and love him they did. He was kind and helpful and always willing to assist, no matter the time or situation. He made sure to answer his phone at all times and never hesitated to reach out to those in need. He loved spending time at home, tending to his peaceful oasis that he was so proud of. He loved following his nieces’ and nephews’ events, especially attending concerts, dance recitals, baseball and football games. He was his nieces’ and nephews’ biggest fan and documented their events like a professional. He spoiled them with candy and ice cream outings and never held back on having the most fun possible. And they loved him so much. Billy made sure to spend time with his family, visited frequently and organized family dinners for everyone to come together and have fun. He also enjoyed traveling and has visited many beautiful places. He loved spending time in the water and made sure that the weather forecast didn’t hold him back. He organized many great events and loved entertaining people to make sure they had fun. He will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him. We miss you already, Billy! Visitation Wednesday, May 31st from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Becvar & Son Funeral Home, 5539 W. 127th Street, Crestwood. Prayer service to begin at 7:00 P.M. Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in Bill’s memory would be appreciated. Obituary for William R.
