James (Jim) J. O’Donnell, age 85, of Chicago, IL passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 9:12am. Cherished husband of Pat (Patsy), Loving father of Susan (Bill) Patete, Tricia (Russ) McKnight, Jim (Valerie Prucnal) O’Donnell. Proud loving Papa/Grandpa of Shawn O’Donnell and Jameson O’Donnell. Loving companion of Wrigley and Buddha. Loving Grandpa to all the fur babies. Dear brother of Peggy (Jack) Cussin, Brother- in- law to the late Judy De Wilkins, the late Frank Yates, the late Millie (Lyn) McGrath, Gail Yates, and Dennis (Rosie) Yates. Fond uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Loyal Friend and Neighbor to many. James was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Bea O’Donnell. Jim was a retired Lieutenant with the Chicago Fire Department. He had a second job refurbishing and fixing heaters and air conditioners. There was nothing that he could not fix. He served his country in the United States Army. Jim was a kind loving soul. All who knew him loved him. If you needed anything, he would be there. He became a second father to some and a papa/grandpa to others. His family was his treasure and world. He loved his wife, children, and grandsons more than anyone could ever know. He enjoyed sitting in his backyard, planting his garden, scratching lottery tickets, playing slots, collecting coins, visiting with neighbors, and spending time with his family. A visitation for James will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Andrew J. Mc Gann & Son Funeral Home, 10727 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL 60655.
