"CPD Ret. and USMC Andy Napolitano transferred to his last duty station patrolling the streets of Heaven. He passed away on Saturday 7 Jun 25 at approximately 830 PM in Hospital from ongoing medical issues. More info to follow when available."

Daniel J. Dodson, 76, of Aurora, IL, passed away on June 5, 2025 at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he was recovering after heart surgery. He was born on January 16, 1949 in Aurora, IL. Dan was employed as an Aurora firefighter for 25 years after graduating from Marmion Military Academy and serving in the U.S. Navy. In his retirement, Dan most enjoyed annual fishing trips to Hayward, WI, lending a helping hand to family, and a good game of Yahtzee or May I. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jennifer (Young) Dodson; two sons, David (Pamela) Dodson and Michael (Krysten) Dodson; four grandchildren, Derek and Katelyn Dodson, and Alexis and Owen Dodson; one sister, Beth Dodson; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ruth Dodson; two sisters, Lynne Hankes and Terri Pensyl; one brother, Larry Dodson; one nephew, Tom Dodson; and one niece, Sarah Magrady. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

CPD FATHERS' DAY MASS AT GOLD STAR FAMILIES’ MEMORIAL AND PARK 10:00 A.M. SUNDAY, 15 JUNE 2025.

All active and retired CPD members, Gold Star Families, Chaplains Ministry supporters, and their families are welcome...as is the public. Mass will be finished by 10:30 for the sake of on-duty worshipers on their lunch break.

While this is a Catholic Mass, ALL are welcome to honor dads/grandfathers/father figures whose names are permanently inscribed on the walls of the CPD memorial.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket...and a picnic lunch if you'd like to stick around.

IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, call Fr. Dan Brandt, directing CPD Chaplain, at

773-550-2369 for status. Ample free parking is available on Special Olympics Drive (formerly Museum Campus Drive), adjacent to the park. Uniformed CPD officers will direct you.

The CFD 5-11 canteen will be on hand providing water, Gatorade, coffee and snacks, and the mounted unit horses will be looking forward to seeing you as well.
