Dear friends, my laptop went down Friday evening, and my daughter ordered the charging unit. It came yesterday, and I'm glad to be back up and running!

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Francis Bronsberg, a dedicated husband, loving father, and cherished friend, who left this world on September 25, 2025. Born on September 5, 1948, Gregory lived a life characterized by service, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. Greg proudly served in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970 with the Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade, during which time he earned the distinguished Purple Heart. His commitment to serving his country continued as a member of the Navy Reserve from 1986 until his retirement as Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2005, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. His military decorations also include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy “E” Ribbon, and Army Good Conduct Medal. Greg's legacy of service lives on not only in the hearts of those he protected but also within the countless lives he touched throughout his career. After dedicating over three decades to the Chicago Police Department as a patrolman, undercover officer, homicide detective, and FBI-certified bomb technician, Greg retired in 2003 as a detective in the Bomb and Arson unit. His meticulous dedication to keeping the community safe was evident in all he did, earning him the gratitude and respect of many. Greg is now reunited with his parents, Francis and Theresa Bronsberg, along with other family and friends who have passed on before him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Linda (née Zazzara), whose love and partnership enriched his life in unimaginable ways. Greg is also survived by his beloved children, Gina (David) Patten and Mark (Megan) Bronsberg, whose lives reflect the values he instilled in them. His legacy continues through his precious grandchildren, Anthony, Charles, and Lauretta, who were the light of his life. Greg will be dearly missed by Frank (Peggy), Lawrence, and James (Sharon). He shared a special bond with his siblings-in-law, Ronald Zazzara and Joan (the late Donald) Johnson, and as a fond uncle and great uncle, he leaves behind innumerable joyous memories among many, along with an extensive collection of non-fiction books, movies, and tools. As we gather to remember Gregory Francis Bronsberg, let us celebrate a man whose courage and kindness will forever be etched in our hearts. May his memory serve as a guide to all of us to live with the same passion and dedication that he exemplified every day.
